Responsibilities
- To conduct tests and studies using analytical measurement methods (FTIR, XRF, XRD, titration, BET, PSD, DSC, TGA, etc.), including the corresponding sample preparation methods such as mixing, milling and moulding of compounds and resins.
- To regularly conducts the testing of plastic specimens and compounds in accordance to prescribed methods including support to technical service and R&D Innovation projects.
- Expected to manage raw materials and finished goods that are used in his line of work, maintain and set up SOPs of lab equipment.
Laboratory Duties
- Independent execution of trials and recommend appropriate analytical methods for each project.
- Preparation of test reports, record test results in computer-based data retention system.
- Manage stock level of regular raw material (including entry of new samples. into computer-based laboratory management system).
- Maintenance, cleaning & ownership of laboratory equipment.
- Liaise with equipment & raw material suppliers.
- Participate in new raw materials and equipment recommendations.
- Propose ongoing improvements (for the lab or for specific projects).
- Ensure safety practices in lab are strictly adhered to including proper housekeeping.
- Compliance to both local and Omya standards of lab operations.
- Other duties as assigned, such as supporting regional plant operations.
Requirements
- University degree (minimal Bachelor’s) preferably in Science, Engineering or Chemistry.
- Minimum 5 years of laboratory or relevant experience (e.g. in production plants) in running analytical testing equipment.
- Excellent hands-on skills with sound knowledge in analytical sciences.
- Initiative and reliability with proven track record.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity to operate various tests on basic and complex lab equipment is essential.
- Excellent computer and software skills in word processing and excel spreadsheet applications.
- Good organization and communication skills.
- Team player
- Good command of both oral and written English is required
- Ability to travel as and when required, up to 50%
