Modern Slavery Act 2015: 2021 Company Statement

Omya UK Limited make the following statement pursuant to Section 54, part 6 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and defines the steps the company has taken to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place within any part of its business.


 

Organisation Structure

Omya UK is a wholly owned subsidiary of Omya AG the leading global producer of calcium carbonate and a worldwide distributor of specialty chemicals.  

Omya approach all business cognizant of its core values of Modesty, Courtesy, Integrity and Perseverance. 

The UK business manufactures, imports and exports both industrial minerals and specialty chemicals. The UK turnover is in excess of £36 Million. 

Omya UK Limited is committed to ensuring that all of its business operations are free from involvement with slavery or human trafficking. 

The company is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 compliant and trades internationally normally through its parent company. 

Policy

Omya UK are committed to ensuring there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Omya UK have published a Modern Day slavery policy which reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. 

Due Diligence

Within the UK we monitor and control all internal appointments and through our ISO 9001 Management system undertake supplier audits. 

In many cases Omya have built a long standing supply arrangement with suppliers who are clear of Omya’s core values. 

For most of our international supply Omya UK work through our partners at Omya International and between us we expect each entity in the supply chain to adopt a ‘one-up’ due diligence approach on the previous link in the supply chain.  

Omya have business systems and policies to encourage the reporting of concerns and the protection of whistle blowers.
Omya AG (group) have been awarded the Silver medal for Corporate Social responsibility in 2020 by EcoVadis. 

Identification of Areas of Higher Risk

Omya UK import products globally and where we import from countries identified at higher risk we aim to carry out supplier audits. 

In many cases we import via our partners at Omya International to more effectively manage the supply chain. 

Within the UK, monitoring is achieved by supplier questionnaires, targeted supplier audits, and internally the monitoring of labour and payroll systems. ​​

Effectiveness

Omya UK can apply the following KPIs to assess the effectiveness of their policies in ensuring Modern day Slavery and Human Trafficking is not taking place.

·  Supplier Questionnaires and Audits

·  Internal labour and payroll monitoring

·      Direct contact with the next link in the supply chain level and communication of our expectations of compliance with the Modern 
         day Slavery and Human trafficking legislation.

A statement of Omya UK Policy is available to all employees and immediate suppliers.
