Donations Committee FAQ

​Q: What is the preferred method to submit a donations request?
A: All requests ​must be submitted electronically via Click on “community” and then “donations”.

Q: Who decides requests?
A: The committee is made up of Omya employees in Vermont.

Q: When does the committee meet to review and decided requests?
A: The committee meets monthly.

Q: When does the request need to be submitted?
A: Requests should be submitted by the first Monday of each month to be considered at that month’s meeting. Requests received after the first Monday, will be moved to the following month’s agenda.

Q: How can I be sure I am sending everything required for a donations request?
A: If you follow our guidelines, and use our online forms, you’ll be in good shape.

Q: If I send a letter, e-mail, or call with a request, will it be reviewed?
A: No. If you have read our guidelines, used our online forms, and submitted on time, your request will receive our full attention.

Q: If I received a request last year, can I submit again this year?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I submit more than one request per year?
A: Yes, but the committee gives higher preference to first time requests from organizations, and second time requests are often denied.

Q: Do you fund capital campaigns?
A: No. We prefer to approve requests that will have a significant impact on a special project or group. Capital campaigns are usually very large requests and we’d rather make several smaller grants to reach as many community organizations as possible.

Q: Do you fund operating budgets?
A: No. We prefer to approve requests that will have a significant impact on a special project or group. We expect that organizations are building revenue streams and managing their operating budgets other ways. We will consider sponsorship or underwriting of a fundraising event for your organization.

Q: When will I know if my request has been approved or denied?
A: Generally, we will let you know within a few days of our meeting what the final decision is, either by letter, or by e-mail.

Q: If my request is approved, how long will it be before I receive the check?
A: Checks are issued from our Cincinnati corporate headquarters. Please allow up to three weeks.
