Celebrating 140 years

In 1884, Emma Staufer and Gottfried Plüss formed a small business in Oftringen, Switzerland, to manufacture high quality window putty from chalk and linseed oil. Now 140 years later, Omya is a global company operating in diverse industries from polymers to paper, agriculture to personal care, construction to water treatment, among others.

Sustainability is key to our success and that of our customers

Omya’s approach to sustainability is twofold: we focus on our own performance in terms of social, environmental and economic measures, and we focus on helping our customers be more sustainable.

Our natural mineral solutions have a low carbon footprint compared with many of the materials they replace.
