The replacement of traditional polymer resins with high purity calcium carbonate in the fibers and nonwovens industry improves the sustainability profile in production and enhances haptics properties and opacity.

Unique surface treatment for better haptics

Our tailormade, high purity calcium carbonate, Omyafiber, has a unique surface treatment for Polypropylene (PP), Polyester (PET) and Poly-lactic Acid (PLA) fibers and nonwoven fabrics.

Omyafiber is an innovative mineral modifier that enables manufacturers to improve the quality of nonwoven fabrics in terms of their haptic properties and opacity, whilst maintaining their mechanical properties.

Better economic value

A key advantage of incorporating Omyafiber into fibers and nonwovens is cost reduction. The replacement of a portion of conventional raw materials with Omyafiber delivers significant financial benefit to producers.

More sustainable nonwovens production

The carbon footprint of calcium carbonate is substantially lower than any synthetic polymer. To establish sound numbers for lifecycle analysis studies, the industrial mineral organization in Europe IMA has initiated an independent evaluation of the carbon dioxide emissions needed to produce calcium carbonate grades for industries like plastic processing.

The inherent natural occurrence of calcium carbonate eliminates the need for energy-intensive chemical production, releasing fewer Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) than virgin polymer production.

Increased sustainability in nonwovens

Omyafiber, the innovative solution designed for fiber and nonwovens, has a lower carbon footprint compared with synthetic polymers. Replacing 10% of the polymer with calcium carbonate reduces the final product CO2 equivalent by 9%.
