INEOS bio-attributed polyolefins are based on renewable, bio-based raw materials. Renewable feedstocks are introduced into the existing production system and the renewable share is attributed to the final material through a certified mass-balance approach and audited chain of custody.
Under this approach, renewable feedstocks are introduced into the existing production system. An audited chain of custody then attributes the renewable share to the final material. This allows the established polyolefin material platform to be retained while supporting reduced dependence on fossil feedstocks.
The brochure states that INEOS bio-attributed olefins and polyolefins are based on renewable, bio-based raw materials that do not compete with human food production. It identifies bio-naphtha made from tall-oil-based UPM BioVerno as one feedstock example, with tall oil described as a residue of the pulping process.
The solutions provide a route to reduce dependence on fossil feedstocks and support a lower product carbon footprint while retaining the established performance of the polyolefin material platform. They use a certified mass-balance and attribution approach and can provide a lower-carbon option for applications requiring established polyolefin performance.
Recycled content, renewable attribution, certification status, regulatory status, product carbon footprint and permitted claims are dependent on the grade, site and supply chain. These details should be confirmed against current INEOS documentation before publication or customer use.
