FAQ - Omyaprene™ 50 C

Laboratory and industrial evaluations have demonstrated that Omyaprene can replace significant amounts of carbon black depending on the application and performance requirements.

Typical evaluations have demonstrated:

- Up to 30 phr carbon black replacement with minimal property changes.

- Up to 50 phr carbon black reduction in selected EPDM compounds while maintaining acceptable mechanical properties. 

Actual replacement levels depend on polymer type, carbon black grade, and end-use requirements. 

No significant loss in tensile strength has been observed within the validated replacement range. In several benchmark studies, compounds containing Omyaprene maintained tensile strength and, in some cases, showed improvements compared to standard calcium carbonate-filled compounds. 

Compression set is one of the strongest performance advantages of Omyaprene.

Multiple evaluations demonstrated:

- Lower compression set values than standard calcium carbonate grades.

- Improved elastic recovery after compression.

- Better retention of sealing performance in elastomer applications.

This makes Omyaprene 50 C particularly attractive for seals, profiles, and technical rubber goods.

Omyaprene 50 C generally maintains or slightly decrease hardness compared to conventional calcium carbonate fillers, allowing formulators to reduce carbon black while keeping hardness within specification. 

No major influence on curing behavior has been observed.

Extensive rheometer testing showed:

- Comparable scorch safety

- Similar curing times

- Similar maximum torque values

In most validated formulations, no process modifications were required during vulcanization. 

Yes, many solutions—including bio-based additives, mineral fillers, and lightweight systems—help reduce environmental impact, improve recyclability, and lower material consumption.

Yes. A six-month stability evaluation showed consistent compound performance after storage. Mechanical properties and processing characteristics remained stable throughout the monitoring period. Based on current evaluations, the product has a recommended shelf life of six months under appropriate storage conditions. 

Current evaluations suggest caution in highly abrasive applications where maximum reinforcement from conventional high-loading carbon black systems may still be required.

Final suitability should always be verified through application-specific testing. 

The product has undergone extensive internal benchmarking and customer evaluations. Project communications reference successful testing with multiple rubber processors and validation partners, together with industrial-scale production trials.
