Business Process Consultant

The position encompasses a range of analytical and conceptual activities across Omya Group Functions and Regions from a Business Process Management and Architecture perspective. Activities include planning, conducting, and supporting business process diagnosis and improvement initiatives. These initiatives may represent one portion of a larger project or may be a stand-alone initiative or function. The position furthermore requires providing support to the business in the development of process documentation, evaluation, and improvements to achieve efficiency, cost -effectiveness, and internal and external customer satisfaction. Process consulting and coaching functions may include data gathering and analysis, best practice research, process documentation, developing and recommending alternatives for improvements, developing performance metrics, facilitating, and obtaining leadership or stakeholder agreement, implementing improvements, and monitoring post - process improvement initiative performance to updated standards Ability and willingness to travel up to ~25% to sites and regional offices globally if needed


Job main responsibilities: 

Business Process Management

• Providing internal customers with business process management, modelling and documenting advice and support, drawing on business knowledge, consulting skills, expertise in business process methods and tools, and exploiting best practice and innovation to deliver an effective Business Process Architecture (BPA).
• Take a proactive approach to identifying and delivering improvement opportunities to enhance the existing processes and systems.
• Use a highly accountable approach with internal customers and suppliers and build strong working relationships.
• Support business functions in developing , skills and competence in business process management, modeling performance management and continuous improvement.
• Deep understanding of Omya’s reference BPA Model, the end-to-end business processes, and key underlying detail process structures.
• Be in accordance with Omya’s policies and directives, and the Compliance applicable regulation.
• Ensure any new developments are aligned with the existing setup, and with the future roadmaps.
• Contribute to the Business Process Architecture maintaining coherence and integrity while incorporating
the different end-to-end business processes documented while participating in initiatives.
• Promote process modeling industry best practices and the standard as established for Omya.
• Follow trends and developments in the modeling industry and check their suitability for Omya.
• Stay abreast of changes and developments with current and future technology solutions and the process automation.
• Promote an environment to change mindset and enable opportunities combining process and digital thinking (Digital Culture).
• Promote open communication – promote collaboration best practices.
• Proactively contribute to the objectives and goals of the area.

Project Management

• Understanding and utilizing project management methods in the planning, design, testing and implementation of related process changes and improvements.
• Improve the project management understanding and use of the appropriate method depending on the type of project.
• When required, lead projects across the organization.
• Document functional requirements and validate the conversion into technical requirements for sign-off if solutions are required to be developed.
• Handle when necessary external teams for project work and manage them accordingly.

Maintain a safe, clean and organized environment in accordance with EH&S policies.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Proven experience in successfully leading business projects and work streams to improve quality and performance

  • The talent to work conceptionally and to think analytically working in a structured way to solve complex problems

  • Strong experience and hands-on skills in combining analysis, consulting and operational implementation of business processes

  • Strong analytical skills, leveraging a solid Statistical and Mathematical knowledge to be applied in practice for projects and operation

  • Able to design and deploy performance management systems understanding measurement systems (PIs, KPIs, SLAs, OLAs) and their relationship with business operation, and business results. All in a logic of quality systems, continuous improvement, and increase productivity.

  • Traditional or agile project management experience in middle to large projects, with certification in at least one method

  • Knowledge of change management principles and methods to deploy business solutions

  • Stakeholder management skills, alliances builder with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  • English spoken & written, other languages a plus

  • Good understanding of human collaboration and the underlying human cognitive mechanisms

  • Good communication skills with excellent presentation, moderation,

    and workshop facilitation skills

  • A solid knowledge and hands-on experience business process modelling techniques, tools, and best practices

  • Good competence level in business process modelling (BPMN) using either Visio or ARIS (Software AG) – ARIS is a plus

  • Excellent MS Office skills


• A business and/or computer science related degree with expertise in processes and systems thinking
• Project Management education / certification
• Ideally six sigma black belt / lean or other business process performance / continuous improvement education / certification


3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in business process improvement and business process projects environment, preferably in a mineral, or bulk material processing industry
