BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide leadership in assuring technical support to Omya’s customers on the use of Omya’s products for applications in assigned market segment within specified area. Plan, prioritize, and implement service activities to fulfill maintenance contracts and service-level agreements. Position will primarily be responsible for the US/Canada and provide some support to LATAM primary remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume prime management responsibility for Technical Service activities in region Americas for Polymers applications at customers and prospective customers. Applies both to Omya’s mineral products and Omya’s distributed specialty materials additives for Polymers applications. Provide technical leadership on the use of Company products for Polymers.
  • Visit customers and work with them to optimize the use of Omya’s products in Polymer applications across Region America, primarily in the US/Canada.
  • Develop relationships with Polymers and Specialty Materials additives Sales staffs for effective implementation of projects and technical support of customers in their areas of responsibility.
  • Develop customer relationships with key production/technical personnel. Focus on influencing (selling) key decision makers.
  • Report on work being done with customers using CRM (and other tools as needed).
  • Provide guidelines, conduct formulation reformulation work, Technical Service consulting and trainings for internal stakeholders and external customers in Polymer applications.
  • Solve technical problems for customers managing customer complaints, coordinating investigations, guiding technical lab work at the technical center laboratories.
  • Manage trials conducted at customer, third-party and Omya technical centers at lab and pilot scale, as well as at customer commercial scale.
  • Assist respective segment sales management with the development and revisions of sales plans related to MDI projects in Polymers semi-annually. Share responsibility of common sales revenue goals especially for new products and market developments.
  • Create and develop partnerships with relevant technical associations.
  • Create and develop partnerships with distribution principals and other materials and equipment Co-suppliers in the Polymers industry.
  • Develop new business opportunities for existing products.
  • Solve customer production and assist with quality problems and customer complaints in Polymers applications.
  • Submit periodic (biweekly, quarterly) reports of main achievements and activities.
  • Manage and drive execution of key Market Development and Innovation (MDI) projects in line with short-, mid-, and long-term business growth plans.
  • Act as first contact person for POL sales teams in Region Americas, primarily in the USA, for any technical support/service on projects/products in Polymers applications based on the following priority: Act as first contact person for POL sales teams in Region Americas, primarily in the USA, for any technical support/service on projects/products in Polymers applications based on the following priority: Innovation Projects/Products, Market Development Projects/Products, Organic Growth Projects/Products (including claims) and Distributed specialty materials additives for Polymers applications.
  • Promote new products and product education externally in Polymer applications in the Region via in-person and virtual innovation meetings with customers, lunch and learn presentations, and the like.
  • Promote new products externally in Polymer applications in the Region via active participation in trade show expos, and at conferences, providing/ giving presentations.)
  • Deliver ideas for new product innovation that lead to ‘Basket of Ideas’ investigations.
  • Implement/execute segment specific strategies and new business initiatives (launches, roll-out projects etc.) in Polymers applications across the region.
  • Maintain project motivation and attitude to achieve objectives by collaboration with others from other company functions. Fill gaps in responsibility in order to achieve project goals.
  • Collaborate or lead on cross functional teams as well as global teams, handling diverse cultures, and resolving team conflict. Escalate barriers and problems as well as continuing conflicts to supervisor. Coordinate global project initiatives with other regions.
  • Manage projects using professional project management processes including the stage and gate process. Track project progress using project management software including business plans, timeline management, status reports.
  • Work with Legal, IP Group, and Innovation team (ITMs) for CDAs, freedom to operate, patentability, and related agreements to protect Omya inventions and know-how. Keep Omya trade secrets without disclosure.
  • Submit periodic (biweekly, monthly, quarterly) reports of main achievements and activities.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned by manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or other relevant technical field. Five or more years of experience in Polymers industry (laboratory, sales, or manufacturing. Five or more years of experience in Polymers industry (laboratory, sales, or manufacturing).

Ideal candidate must have a strong technical background and expertise in Polymers applications and formulations, ability to communicate (written and verbally) at all levels within the customer and the Omya organization.

Personality, people skills with strong entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated success in implementing new products to existing or new customers.

Strong presentation and consultative skills. Project Management skills and proven track record of successful execution of complex projects.

Proficiency in English (written and oral) is required, Spanish is a plus.

Must be willing to travel up to 60% and work extended and odd hours as necessary for meetings, trials etc. Must have a valid driving license.

The work location for this role is flexible if approved by “Company” except this position may not be performed remotely from Colorado and California.
