BASIC FUNCTION:
Enhance and further develop in coordination with Group Tax Omya Americas tax compliance model and actively contribute to the tax strategy in the Americas (North & South America) in the framework of the Group Tax strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enhance and further develop in coordination with Group Tax Omya Americas’ tax compliance model and actively contribute to the tax strategy in the Americas (North & South America) in the framework of the Group Tax strategy.
- Implement and maintain Omya Americas (North & South America) tax compliance model and monitoring system.
- Contribute tax expertise to M&A projects in the Americas in tax due diligence, tax structuring and the implementation phase in coordination with Group Tax.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments and assess and communicate impacts on company and stakeholders. Create strategies to capitalize on such developments.
- Review and advise international affiliate on local tax treatment and strategize on ways to reduce local tax liability.
- Coach, counsel and educate necessary Finance personnel and company leadership in tax compliance issues.
- Oversee completion of US federal and state and local, as well as non-US income tax returns including all related analysis and support.
- Take steps to minimize audit risk associated with positions taken on US and State tax returns.
- Act as primary liaison with company management on tax related issues, accounting staff on tax accounting issues, and company management in the estimation and monitoring of cash taxes.
- Manage and facilitate all tax audits.
- Monitor compliance with US and non-US non-income tax (sales tax, payroll taxes, property tax, VAT, withholding, etc.).
- Manage the relationships with external consultants and advisors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting. CPA or MBA preferred.
8-12 years’ experience in international multinational corporate tax department or equivalent experience in a leading tax consultancy firm with exposure to international tax matters.
Deep technical knowledge of US Corporate Income Tax; Working knowledge of Americas area tax issues; Working knowledge of IFRS financial reporting regulations and procedures; Demonstrated experience in performing in-depth tax research to minimize liability and resolve pertinent tax issue.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external groups while maintaining the integrity of confidential information; Ability to work through multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time efficiently; Excellent analytical skills and ability to problem-solve and think both creatively and logically; Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and execute organizational strategy; Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, organization and positive influencing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), SAP experience preferred.
10-15% travel domestic & international (Canada, US, Mexico & South America).
Must possess current US employment authorization; sponsorship not available for this position.
